A great gift idea for this holiday season everyone will enjoy is the Metropolitan Museum of Art Ballpoint pen from the Museum's Accessory Collection.
The colorful design on this Metropolitan Museum of Art pen was inspired by decorative artwork from the Museum Collection. This pen is based on a leaded-glass window from Tiffany called "Magnolias and Irises." Louis Comfort Tiffany was one of America's most noted decorative artists at the turn of the century.
Here is a close-up of one of our favorites, "Astral Map." This pen is based on hand-colored woodcuts in the original work - Astronomicum Caesareum, a Renaissance aged manual for calculating the position of stars and planets. Only about forty copies of this work survive, one in The Metropolitan Museum.
Each ballpoint pen features a unique design with either a silver trim or gold trim, depending on the design. Proceeds from the sale of all Metropolitan Museum of Art products are used to support the Museum. Utilizes a Parker-style refill. Each pen comes gift-boxed in a box matching the print on the pen.
