Retro 51 Tornado Smithsonian Rollerball Pen, Corona
Retro 51 Smithsonian Series Tornado pen, Corona. Its deeply etched barrel is reminiscent of the ornamental bronze-colored metal lattice that covers the outside of the National Museum of African American History and Culture Building in Washington, D.C. Lead designer David Adjaye pays homage to the intricate ironwork crafted by enslaved African Americans in Louisiana, South Carolina, and elsewhere through the use of this design. Each rollerball pen is numbered on the top ring and is finished with matte black nickel accents.
It is fitted with a smooth flowing rollerball refill that is retracted with its patented knurl twist-top. Replace the rollerball with any readily available Parker-style ballpoint refill and your Tornado is now a ballpoint pen. You'll find both the Retro 51 REF5P capless rollerball refill and Schmidt P900 ballpoint refill for this pen in our store under Refills. Gift packed in matching commemorative Retro 51 gift tube that doubles as a pen stand. Retro 51 model number SRR-1818.
Length: 5" (127 mm); Width at center of barrel: 15/32" (12 mm); Weight: 1.0 oz. (29 g)
The National Museum of African American History and Culture is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this pen will support and further the Museum's educational mission on what it means to be an American, and to share how American values like resiliency, optimism, and spirituality are reflected in African American history and culture.
