The Cross Botanica line of pens are very eye-catching. The motif is inspired by the beautiful floral patterns used in henna design. Henna artwork is an ancient practice that dates back 5,000 years. Henna tattooing today is used as a popular form of expression for different purposes. Flowers and petals symbolize pure happiness and joy. Intricate and scrolling paisleys can represent fertility and luck. Vines and leaf henna designs often represent devotion and vitality and are perfect for marriage celebrations.
The pen is on the smaller side, measuring at just over 5 inches closed and 6.1 inches posted. It is slim, dainty and lightweight weighing in at just over an ounce. The cap snaps on and pulls off. Posted it feels nicely balanced while writing. The band around the bottom of the cap is pretty and sparkly with an interesting texture to it.
The hand-finished stainless steel nib writes smoothly. The flow runs more to the wet side and the nib only comes in fine or medium. It includes 2 #8921 black fountain pen cartridges that are as neat and easy to use as a ballpoint or a rollerball refill. If you want to use bottled ink, you will need to buy the converter separately, since Cross doesn't sell it with the pen.
